To my readers:
I have just learned that somebody has recently started to impersonate me via Substack. This appears to be preferentially occurring via the ‘private’ messaging option. The response that people have been receiving is…
“ᴛʜᴀɴᴋs ғᴏʀ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴄᴏᴍᴍᴇɴᴛs, ғᴏʀ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ᴀɴᴅ sᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ sʜᴏᴡɴ ᴍᴇ, ɪ'ʟʟ ɪɴᴛʀᴏᴅᴜᴄᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴛᴏ ᴀ ʟɪғᴇ ᴄʜᴀɴɢɪɴɢ ɪɴᴠᴇsᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴡɪʟʟ ʜᴇʟᴘ ʏᴏᴜʀ ғɪɴᴀɴᴄɪᴀʟ ʟɪғᴇ, ɪғ ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴇsᴛᴇᴅ ᴍᴇssᴀɢᴇ ᴍᴇ ᴅɪʀᴇᴄᴛʟʏ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ 👉@ᴅʀ_ʙʏʀᴀᴍ“
This response is not from me. Thank you to the readers who let me know about this.
Of concern, this person (or people) also seems to be impersonating me on Telegram. Many of the impersonations tend to use nice-sounding/legitimate language to try to lead people into a trap of some kind.
I have reported this incident to Substack and the police.
Police currently have a criminal investigation into widespread impersonation that is being used to cause harm to me and people associated with me.
If you ever receive a message that seems out of character for me, please assume that it is not from me unless you can confirm otherwise.
If anyone ever comes across information that could assist the police in their investigations into these matters, please let me know. My University of Guelph email address is publicly available information. If emailing me information, please put “Information for police“ in the subject line so I can find it. It is important that these people be brought to justice because they are likely investing the same time and energy into harming many others.
Unfortunately, these kinds of criminal activities being levied against me on a global scale have become part of my ‘new normal’. But, I refuse to be intimidated or silenced.
I’m so sorry. The level of depravity in our world right now is unbelievable. Thank you for your courage.
I know you would NEVER do anything remotely like that! Hard to believe that anyone who follows you would actually think it came from you. Your high ethical standards are most evident.
