I'm rather fascinated with the "toxicity concerns" expressed by Novartis over LNPs, for one main reason.
When the human liver creates lipids from sugars (the other name for lipids is Fats), it creates those fats a single molecule at a time. That fat molecule is nanoscale in dimensions. Therefore it meets the definition of a nanoparticle composed of lipid.
Those lipid nanoparticles circulate in the blood, absorb into muscle cells where they are metabolized for energy, and excesses of them are stockpiled in the body as depot fat beneath the skin and in any other place the body cares to stockpile them.
Obesity is a condition in which the body stores far more lipid than it can reasonably use.
So there are two obvious explanations for toxicity concerns about LNPs.
1) Pharma execs were too dumb to realize that natural fat is only harmful in the morbidly obese, and the rest of us are in no danger from injecting natural fat...or
2) These "lipid" nanoparticles are not natural fats normally encountered in the human diet. Was it not a Vancouver Canadian company (Arbutus) that had been heavily supported by the Trudeau government that , through some muddled takeovers and confusing connections, came up with the bones of the LNP delivery system that became central to the mRNA’s? Was it not a certain Mr. Bill Gates himself who invested heavily into Moderna when it was flagging? A Canadian startup scientist also started that company ( but he is long gone).
It is hard to sort the claims from the reality. There is another company, Acuitas, which was a partner or successor to Arbutus, which was said to have significant Trudeau Foundation ownership.
I do not have the expertise or resources to pursue the situation.
There doesn’t appear to be any debate about those companies in the lipid nano particle development. David Martin goes down that rabbit hole pretty deep. And he thinks he came out the other side.

I was about to copy it into a FB post but decided to reread the original article more carefully. The quote as you present it is misleading.
